Respiratory illnesses are among the most common medical conditions in childhood and adolescence. Acute respiratory illnesses are the most common reason for visits to the paediatric and adolescent surgery. Furthermore, respiratory illnesses are the most common chronic illnesses in childhood and adolescence, above all asthma. These often occur in conjunction with skin complaints (atopic eczema, neurodermatitis) and with allergies (hay fever, allergic asthma).
We have particular expertise in diagnosing and treating:
A comprehensive medical history and physical examination are the first steps towards a diagnosis and are followed up by child-friendly pulmonary function testing (from approx. 5 yrs.), impulse oscillometry used to measure airway resistance (possible from 3 yrs) and, if necessary, further laboratory and microbiological diagnostics. These are all required for the creation of an individual therapy plan to avoid irreversible damage to the lungs and the development of severe asthma in adulthood. Therapy is carried out according to current guidelines and in addition to modern, medicinal and inhalation therapy, including preventative measures such as allergological diagnosis, sanitising the home environment, elimination of allergens, allergen immunotherapy, inhalation training, individual training, primary and targeted vaccinations, and much more.
If you are unable to make your appointment, we request that you cancel the appointment in a timely manner (24 hours in advance), so that we may promptly offer one of the limited appointments in our special consultation hours to another family.
